# XRPL token issuer

Use this skill to vet a token issuer before holding or accepting its token. Read-only; the free routes need no authentication.

- `asset` is `CODE.issuer`. The response carries the issuer flags (`global_freeze`, `no_freeze`), `domain`, `transfer_fee_pct` and `obligations` (total issued).
- `obligations` is `null` with `obligations_status: "unavailable"` when the issuer total could not be read; do not read that as zero.
- A 40-hex currency code also carries `currency_ascii`, its readable form.
- An unknown issuer answers 404 `not-found`: do not retry unchanged.
- Amounts are decimal strings; never convert them to floats.
