# GET /v1/solana/slot/latest

Latest finalized Solana slot and its block time.

## Purpose

Returns the latest finalized slot and the time of its block (null when the node does not have it yet). Every figure is read at finalized commitment, so it can lag the tip of the chain by about 13 seconds; `meta.slot` is the context slot of the read.

## When to use

To check how fresh the finalized view of Solana is, or to anchor a read to a slot.

## When not to use

Not a tip-of-chain feed: it is finalized, not processed or confirmed, and it is cached for 2 seconds.

## Parameters

This endpoint takes no parameters.

- 429 [rate-limited](https://api.criptonlabs.com/errors/rate-limited.md)
- 503 [upstream-unavailable](https://api.criptonlabs.com/errors/upstream-unavailable.md)

## Caching

Fresh for 2 seconds; on upstream failure the last good value is served for up to 30 seconds (`meta.stale` is `true`), then the service answers 503. See the [freshness guide](https://api.criptonlabs.com/docs/guides/freshness.md).

## Rate limit

Tier `cheap`. See the [rate-limits guide](https://api.criptonlabs.com/docs/guides/rate-limits.md).

## MCP tool

The MCP tool `solana_latest_slot` returns the same data. See the [MCP quickstart](https://api.criptonlabs.com/docs/guides/mcp-quickstart.md).
